The Surface Pro 1 and Surface Pro 2 are not compatible with this dock. When connecting your Surface to monitors through Surface Dock, the maximum refresh or screen resolution through the mini DisplayPort will be 4096 x 2160 @30Hz or 2960 x 1440 @60Hz, even if the device capabilities exceed this.

GIMP has great flexibility for arranging dialog windows on your screen. Instead of placing each dialog in its own window, you can group dialogs using docks. A 'dock' is a container window that can hold a collection of persistent dialogs, such as the Tool Options dialog, Brushes dialog, Palette dialog, etc. Docks cannot, however, hold non-persistent dialogs such as the Preferences dialog or an Image window.

GIMP has two default docks:

  • The Layers, Channels and Paths dock.

  • The Brushes, Patterns and Gradients dock.

  2. The latest version of Dock Preview is 1.2 on Mac Informer. It is a perfect match for Viewers & Editors in the Design & Photo category. The app is developed by Nikita Zubkov.

In these docks, each window is in its own tab.

The Toolbox is a utility window. The Tool Options window is normally attached under the Toolbox and displays the options of the selected tool.

Use WindowsDockable Dialogs. view a list of dockable dialogs. Choose a dockable dialog from the list to view the dialog. If the dialog is available in a dock, then it is made visible. If the dialog is not in a dock, then it is displayed in its own window. Note that the Windows command is only available while an image is open for editing.

Hi, comtheo!
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. From your post, I understand that the Preview app is not working as expected. If you try to open a file, you'll see Preview open in the Dock but your file does not actually open. This happens with PDF and picture files. I'd be happy to help!

Give the following steps a try, in order, testing after each.
  1. Quit the Preview app, then hold the Shift key on your keyboard while opening it again.
  2. Restart your MacBook Pro by clicking the Apple () menu in the upper left of the screen and selecting 'Restart...' from the drop down.
  3. Try opening your files with Preview in safe mode. You can get information on what safe mode does, how it can help, and how to boot to it here: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac
  4. Test how Preview functions in a new user account. The following article details what a new user can do to help, and how to create a new account: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac
Cheers!
